Camp Overview: The Pugmarks Mother and Child camp is meant for very young children whose parents are keen to send the child out camping, but are not sure how the child will take it, since the child has hitherto never been away from the parents overnight. Another reason can be that the parents do not know whom to trust with their beloved child. The Mother and Child camps overcome this by arranging for the mother (or father, or both) to accompany the child to the camp. The Arts Village, Karjat camp is very attractive in terms of its location and infrastructure. Founded by an acknowledged artist with a group of like-minded colleagues – all of them practicing artists – the ambiance at the campsite encourages contemplation, inspiration and creativity. The structures are all of mud and thatch to merge with the rural surroundings. Many artistic pieces are permanently exhibited all over the campus. Greenery, scenic views, birds, butterflies and insects all bring Nature to the attention of the jaded urban mind. Objectives: The objectives of this camp are simply to provide an enjoyable camping experience to the young child and to assure the parent that the child will be in safe and good hands if sent out with Pugmarks in the future. Many enjoyable games, pastimes and activities are conducted during the camp with a little more stress on artistic creativity. Activities are designed for the children, for the parents and for both as a team. The idea is to provide quality interaction between the parent/s and the child/ren and to promote greater bonding between them. Location: The campsite is located near Chowk village on the road from Panvel to Karjat. It is adjacent to the famous N D Studio. Distances: From Dadar East, Mumbai: 60 KM. From Congress Bhavan, SHivajinagar, Pune: 96 KM.
